I wanted to get out and shoot this morning, no matter what the weather. In fact, I was anticipating clear skies when I checked the satellite at 4:15 AM. Through my cloudy eyes, I could see a small bank of low clouds covering the sky from Freeport to Augusta. This had potential. I was already kicking myself for not getting up earlier as I drove down Route 1 towards Bath, eye on what was looking like a very promising sky. The clouds were already underlit, fringed with warm shades that signified a good sunrise.
My intial goal was to make it out to Five Islands, but I was running short on time. Whenever a big light show like this promises, I get crazy-brain. I want to be everywhere at once. I go over locations in my head until I settle on something within reach. I actually pulled off for 5 minutes into downtown Bath, considering a shot of the waterfront. I scoped it out, but wan't feeling inspired by anything I saw, so back on Route 1 and across the bridge with even less...
