Description
I'm not too big on shooting stuff that's been done a million times before. In rare instances, however, the opportunity to wintess something powerful and beautiful through my own eyes trumps the urge to be 'original'. This was the case two nights ago at Bass Harbor Head Light. You all know that I love lighthouses, and the chance to shoot this icon was something I didn't want to pass up. So there I was, in about the only good angle you can find here, standing next to another photographer, capturing something that isn't very original, but surely is beautiful.
This was the first frame I captured, just as the sun found a hole in the clouds and disappeared behind the island. There was some great light later on in the sunset, but it was just too far behind the island to provide the drama I wanted. Therefore, we packed it up and went over to Bass Harbor for some insane color, which I'll post later on. Thanks for looking!
