Artist's Description
Doubling Point Light was built in 1898 on Arrowsic Island on the Kennebec River in Maine. It was one of four lighthouses built that year to provide navigational aid for ships on their way to Bath, "the City of Ships." Since that time, the lighthouse has been shuffled through various government agencies, and slowly taken out of working service. It is now cared for by the Friends of the Doubling Point Light, and serves as a reminder of the rich seafaring tradition along the Kennebec.
One of the great joys of photographing beautiful places is the people you meet when you're there. Today I met a couple of tourists from Connecticut who were just as taken by the scenery and light as I was. We chatted for about 15 minutes as the sun slowly sank and cast it's beautiful warm glow over the lighthouse. All in all, a great trip and worth a repeat visit!

And I’m fascinated by how human beings fit into the natural world in symbiotic, beautiful, and ingenious ways. I love showcasing the places and spaces that bring us close to...

Very nicely done in all respects. The composition is ... classic, and the lighting perfect. Love it.
